Car MOTs

An MOT test checks that your vehicle meets the road safety and environmental standards.

You must get an MOT for you vehicle by either:

• the third anniversary of its registration (some vehicles need to be tested at one year old)
• the anniversary of its last MOT, if it’s older than 3 years

An MOT lasts for one year. The date it runs out is printed on the last pass certificate. You can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.

You can’t drive your vehicle on the road if the MOT has run out. You can be prosecuted and fined up to £1,000 if caught. The only exception to drive it are:

• to or from somewhere to be repaired
• to a pre-arranged MOT test

As an Authorized MOT Testing Station we can offer MOT testing for all makes of cars, Class IV and light commercial vehicles, Class VII. During the MOT, important parts on your vehicle will be checked to make sure they meet the legal standards. Stay and watch while one of our highly trained and certified MOT testers carries out your MOT while you wait.

For those of you that would like to send your cars and light commercial vehicles to us for their annual MOT the current rate for our existing customers and their employees is £45 per test.

Where customers can guarantee a minimum of 12 tests per calendar year, be they your own or your employees vehicles, the fee will be reduced for each test carried out.
